When printing on bed linen, I seek to evoke the proximity of the physical, the corporeal. Sheets and pillowcases become the direct recipients of the residues and stains from the skin itself. When using them, my goal is to symbolise the memory of the person who inhabited them.
I used blood in several of these works as a printing medium in an effort to relate organic residue with a human body to be illustrated by the printed image. The print made on an old sheet thereby reconstructs the mark of a mistreated and the pain she experienced through the use of blood to represent this abuse.
